30 pounds and counting!

Ava's daddy has lost approximately 30 pounds over the last three months. His office implemented a "Biggest Loser" contest and Chris joined it...and is in second place! We have been eating lean meats and fish and as many vegetables as we can get on our plates! Breakfast is a MUST as well as healthy snacks throughout the day. Our refrigerator looks like a farmers market with the exception of the Girl Scout and other assorted cookies I manage to sneak. I felt like I was deceiving Chris by hiding the sweets...eating them all along, but he has had such will power and is completely driven to reach his goal he hasn't let a cookie get in his way. In addition to eating more healthy, Chris has been riding his bike and jogging regularly. Over the last couple of months he has participated in two 5k events and just this past weekend he ran in Austin's famous Capital 10k race and finished in just over an hour. Ava and I were there to cheer him on...along the route and as he crossed the finish line. We are so proud!

Dr. Binford and little Ava

Chris and I have documented every step of our life with little Ava...from the moment we knew she was in my tummy! We have photos of all of the professionals who helped us get pregnant, helped make sure Ava was growing healthy in my belly as well as the ones who helped aid in her delivery. Dr. Binford is where our journey began. She counseled us and made sure we had referrals to the BEST fertility experts and prenatal specialists in town! During Ava's birth in the hospital, however, we didn't get a good photo of Dr. Binford because she had on a mask and was literally in and out - back to her private practice meeting with other patients. Finally...I brought Ava with me on an appointment to see her and snapped this adorable photo. Dr. Binford has been my doctor ever since I moved to Austin 11 years ago and she is fabulous! We are so thankful for her.

Rubber duckie...you're the one!

Ava has been bathing in the big tub since she was 2 months old. I watched my sister Kate bathe all 6 of her children this way. I figured Ava would take to it as well and she has. At first, I didn't want to just lay her in the tub so I began purchasing things to bathe her in and none of them worked! Let it be known Ava likes the water warm and nothing funny feeling under her back! Now...she can play in the tub while on her tummy. And...she has a toy...a rubber duckie that her cousin Gray brought with him to Austin one weekend he came to visit.
